Sauder Schelkopf LLC is investigating whether colleges and universities are doing enough to prevent and respond to sexual assault, sexual harassment, and other forms of sexual misconduct on campus.

We would like to hear from current college and university students who have concerns about their school’s Title IX policies, reporting procedures, disciplinary processes, prevention programs, or overall response to sexual misconduct.

You may have concerns about:

  • How your school handles reports or complaints of sexual assault or harassment;
  • Delays, lack of transparency, or other problems with Title IX investigations or disciplinary proceedings;
  • Whether students receive adequate information about reporting options and available resources;
  • Whether fraternities, sororities, athletic programs, or other student organizations are adequately monitored;
  • Whether your school appropriately responds to recurring problems involving sexual misconduct, alcohol, or drugs;
  • Whether students feel safe reporting misconduct or believe complaints are taken seriously; or
  • Whether your school has promised reforms or improvements that have not been fully implemented.

You do not need to have personally experienced sexual assault or harassment to contact us. We are also interested in hearing from current students who have concerns about whether their school’s campus-wide policies and procedures adequately protect students.

Our Experience

Sauder Schelkopf has extensive experience representing survivors of sexual misconduct and pursuing cases designed not only to compensate survivors, but also to change institutional policies and practices to better protect students from future harm.

Sauder Schelkopf served as Class Counsel in a class action brought against the University of Michigan on behalf of current students seeking institutional reforms concerning the prevention of and response to sexual misconduct. The court-approved settlement resulted in significant reforms, including additional oversight and the creation of a multidisciplinary Coordinated Community Response Team to continually assess, monitor, and evaluate the University’s efforts to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct.

The firm was also co-counsel in the sexual-abuse class action involving former University of Southern California gynecologist which resulted in a $215 million class action settlement. Importantly, the settlement went beyond monetary compensation. It required USC to implement changes and best practices for identifying and preventing misconduct and harassment, strengthen procedures for identifying, preventing, and reporting improper conduct at its student health center, and submit to oversight by an independent, non-USC expert appointed by the Court to ensure compliance with those procedures.

Sauder Schelkopf also represents survivors of sexual abuse by former Ohio State University physician Richard Strauss. In 2026, reached a $100 million settlement with Ohio State, with Sauder Schelkopf among the firms representing the survivors.

These cases reflect Sauder Schelkopf’s experience seeking both substantial financial recoveries and meaningful institutional change. Depending on the circumstances, reforms can include stronger reporting and prevention procedures, independent oversight, improved training, greater transparency, better monitoring of misconduct, and mechanisms designed to hold institutions accountable for implementing promised changes.
