Pharmacies Impacted by GoodRx and PBM Practices

Independent pharmacies have filed antitrust class actions in California and Rhode Island federal courts, alleging that GoodRx, in collaboration with several major pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), engaged in unlawful price-fixing schemes. The actions involve claims that reimbursement rates for generic drugs were suppressed through GoodRx’s Integrated Savings Program, harming independent pharmacies nationwide.

Key Allegations:

  • GoodRx and PBMs (CVS Caremark, Express Scripts, MedImpact, and Navitus) allegedly conspired to fix reimbursement prices.
  • GoodRx’s software reroutes claims to PBMs offering the lowest rates, minimizing payments to pharmacies.
  • The plaintiffs argue that this violates the Sherman Antitrust Act by creating an unlawful price-fixing agreement.

Why This Matters:
These practices, if proven, could significantly impact the financial health of independent pharmacies by reducing reimbursement rates for prescription drugs and undermining fair competition.
