Sauder Schelkopf is investigating potential claims on behalf of investors and users impacted by a reported $280 million exploit involving the Drift Protocol, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform built on the Solana blockchain.

According to reports, a malicious actor gained unauthorized access to Drift’s administrative controls through a social-engineering-style attack, bypassing traditional code-based vulnerabilities and instead exploiting human access points. The attacker was allegedly able to seize control of the platform’s Security Council and drain approximately $280 million in digital assets, some of which were converted into USDC and Ether.

Bloomberg April 1, 2026: A $280 Million Crypto Hack Exposes a Human Weak Link in DeFi

This incident underscores a growing risk in the DeFi ecosystem: even where smart contract code is secure, failures in governance, access controls, and operational security can expose users to significant losses.

Sauder Schelkopf is evaluating whether Drift and related parties implemented adequate safeguards to protect user assets and whether affected investors may have viable legal claims.
