State College, PA – A lawsuit has been filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Centre County against Singer Kader Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., and its owner, Garrett A. Singer, alleging gross negligence and misconduct in the handling of a deceased individual’s remains.
The plaintiff, Sherry Cramer, retained the funeral home for cremation services following the passing of her mother, Joan Elizabeth Donley, in November 2024. The complaint alleges that despite assurances from the defendants, Ms. Donley’s body was not cremated in a timely manner and instead remained at the facility for six weeks without refrigeration or proper care, leading to advanced decomposition.
The lawsuit seeks damages for severe emotional distress, negligence, gross negligence, interference with a corpse, and breach of contract.
Attorney Joe Sauder, representing Ms. Cramer, stated:
“Families trust funeral homes to treat their loved ones with dignity and respect. The allegations in this case are deeply troubling, and our client is seeking accountability for the extreme distress and suffering caused by the defendants’ actions.”
Ms. Cramer, who is also represent by Louis T. Glantz, is pursuing legal recourse to ensure transparency, accountability, and justice for her family.
The case, Cramer v. Singer Kader Neff Funeral Home, et al., is currently pending in the Centre County Court of Common Pleas.
