On February 18, 2022, Judge Yeakel in the Western District of Texas granted final approval to a class action settlement involving those who purchased credentials for the 2020 South by South West Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas. Sauder Schelkopf was appointed by the court to serve as Class Counsel. The settlement included both a deferral class and a non-deferral class. The deferral class was able to defer their 2020 credentials through 2024, to purchase an equal number of credentials to one alternate year between 2022 and 2024 (other than for the year to which they deferred) at 50% of the walk-up rate, and also received a $30 payment per credential purchased. The non-deferral class was presented with the option of either joining the deferral class and receiving those benefits or receiving a refund of 40% of the amount paid for their credentials.
