Sauder Schelkopf is investigating claims on behalf of former personnel (military and civilian) and residents who were impacted by contaminated drinking water at military bases. It has been reported that dangerously high levels of the toxic “forever chemicals” known as PFAS have been detected in the drinking water of more communities near Department of Defense installations. Forever chemicals — PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances — are widely used in consumer products such as nonstick cookware, flame-retardant fabrics, and some food packaging. PFAS are also found in firefighting foam used at airports and current and decommissioned military bases. Forever chemicals have been linked with a number of health problems, including thyroid disease, liver damage, and kidney and testicular cancers.
