Sauder Schelkopf filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers who sought loans and/or were otherwise impacted by inaccurate Equifax credit scores. As one of three major credit-reporting companies in the country, Equifax provides financial information and scores to consumers, which affect whether they are approved for certain loans and what interest rate they pay. From mid-March through early April 2022, Equifax reportedly sent out incorrect credit scores for millions of consumers applying for auto loans, home mortgages, and credit cards. Consumers reported scores varying by as much as 20 points in either direction – enough for some consumers to be rejected for a loan. Another consumer reported that she went from having a high credit score to no score at all.

“As one of the three major credit bureaus, the accuracy of credit scores supplied by Equifax allows businesses to make decisions that impact the lives of millions of consumers. When these credit scores are inaccurate, through no fault of the consumer, it’s the consumers who pay the price. We look forward to moving this case forward so that those affected by this error can be fully compensated,” said Joe Sauder of Sauder Schelkopf.
