Sauder Schelkopf is investigating a class action lawsuit on behalf of dentists who used Cerasmart dental crowns. Dentists have complained that Cerasmart dental crowns fail prematurely where the crown debonded from the tooth and dentists had to bear the costs of the replacements. In a similar case, Sauder Schelkopf and co-counsel reached a $32.5 million settlement with 3M on behalf of a national class of over 7000 dentists. The lawsuit alleged warranty claims for faulty dental crown products that would unbond. The lawsuit alleged that 3M breached a 10-year limited warranty and violated a numerous state law claims when it sold the dentists Lava Ultimate, a ceramic material that dries to form a crown.
