Sauder Schelkopf is investigating possible claims on behalf of patients who were treated by Dr. James Curtis Roberson II, a former rheumatologist who was employed by MedStar Health, MedStar Orthopaedic Institute at Brandywine
The Maryland Board of Physicians has permanently revoked the medical license of Dr. James Curtis Roberson II following findings of serious professional misconduct involving patients.
Findings by the Maryland Board of Physicians
According to a publicly filed Consent Order, the Board concluded that Dr. Roberson engaged in immoral and unprofessional conduct in the practice of medicine, including conduct classified as sexual misconduct under Maryland law.
The Board’s findings were based on an investigation that included patient complaints, witness interviews, and review of medical records. The Consent Order reflects allegations that the physician:
- Engaged in inappropriate physical contact with patients during medical examinations
- Failed to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Participated in conduct deemed unethical and inconsistent with accepted medical standards
The Board also noted that prior concerns had been raised years earlier, including an advisory letter issued after a complaint regarding an inappropriate examination without a chaperone.

License Revocation
Following its investigation, the Board determined that the physician posed a risk to patient safety and:
- Issued a summary suspension of his license in October 2025
- Ultimately revoked his license permanently in February 2026
What This Means for Patients
The Board’s findings indicate that multiple patients may have been subjected to inappropriate conduct in a medical setting over a period of time.
