April 24, 2025 — The U.S. Center for SafeSport has reportedly dismissed its Chief Executive Officer, Ju’Riese Colón, following significant public scrutiny surrounding the organization’s hiring and oversight practices. This move comes after news reports revealed that an individual previously employed as a SafeSport investigator has been charged with serious criminal offenses, including sexual misconduct and trafficking.
According to The Athletic and other media outlets, Jason Krasley, who worked for SafeSport between 2021 and 2022, was arrested after facing multiple charges related to his conduct both prior to and during his tenure with the organization. Court filings and news coverage indicate that he has been accused of rape and sex trafficking. These charges remain pending, and Mr. Krasley is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Reports further allege that SafeSport was aware of prior internal concerns involving Mr. Krasley’s conduct during his time in law enforcement before hiring him. In response to these revelations, lawmakers have initiated inquiries into SafeSport’s vetting processes, including a reported investigation by Senator Chuck Grassley. SafeSport has not commented in detail on these claims but has stated that it is reviewing its hiring procedures.
In a public statement, SafeSport confirmed the leadership change and announced that a board-led management committee will assume interim oversight while the organization searches for new executive leadership.
The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a federally authorized nonprofit tasked with investigating abuse and misconduct allegations in Olympic and Paralympic sports. In recent years, it has faced increasing pressure over its ability to manage a rising volume of cases while maintaining public confidence in its independence and effectiveness.
