Sauder Schelkopf LLC, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, and The Miller Law Firm, P.C. have been court-appointed Interim Co-Class Counsel to represent the putative class of individuals who suffered sexual abuse by Dr. Robert E. Anderson, the former director of University Health Service and a former athletic team physician, who worked at University of Michigan from 1968 until his retirement in 2003. He died in 2008. The University is conducting an investigation related to his former patients who believe they were subjected to sexual misconduct during a medical exam. It was reported that the “University of Michigan has received more than 100 complaints alleging sexual misconduct against late UM doctor Robert Anderson.” It was further reported that a police investigation makes “clear that officials at the University of Michigan were aware of sexual abuse allegations against Anderson, who died in 2008. It is not clear, however, why or how he moved as a practicing physician in another position at the university. The records paint a sweeping account of alleged sexual abuse for decades behind medical doors, and other UM officials who heard rumors about Anderson but did nothing to address them.”

Sauder Schelkopf has a nationally recognized sexual misconduct litigation practice. Our former prosecutors have extensive experience fighting for victims.
- Sauder Schelkopf, and co-counsel, recently reached a $215 million settlement on behalf of female patients of Dr. George Tyndall, a gynecologist at the University of Southern California accused of sexual misconduct since the 1990s.
- We currently represent survivors of clergy sexual abuse in dioceses throughout the country.
- We have a class action lawsuit pending on behalf of males who were victims of sexual misconduct by Dr. Richard Strauss, the Ohio State team doctor, while they were students and student-athletes at Ohio State University.
