A Senate report has revealed shocking details about the cover-up of sexual assault and harassment at the United States Coast Guard Academy, where former top officials reportedly concealed an extensive investigation—Operation Fouled Anchor—from both Congress and the public. This investigation, which spanned from 2014 to 2019, unearthed over 100 allegations of sexual assault involving cadets, some dating back to the 1990s. Yet, the Coast Guard failed to disclose these findings to Congress or the public until 2023.

Despite the revelation of this cover-up, survivors of these heinous crimes have yet to receive the justice and accountability they deserve. The report shows that many sexual assault cases were mishandled, with some perpetrators shielded from prosecution. The Coast Guard’s failure to act transparently and protect victims has left many survivors in the shadows, denied the justice and support they need.
