Sexual assault is prevalent in every profession including the medical profession. Doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers are entrusted to protect the physical and emotional well-being of their patients; however, that is not always the case.
Two recent cases further demonstrate that the medical field also has to deal with the ramifications of #MeToo and sexual misconduct among its professionals. An Oregon cosmetic surgeon was recently arrested for sexual abuse and kidnapping of eight female patients. The abuse occurred between January 2012 and April 2018.
In addition, an Ohio mental health worker has been arrested for abusing an 11-year-old boy in his care, and authorities believe there are more victims who suffered abuse from this individual.
