Products labeled as “all-natural” or “organic” may in fact contain artificial ingredients and/or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Marketing claims may also mislead consumers into thinking the product has less of a harmful ingredient. As the New York Times reported: “A recent study that examined millions of grocery store purchases in the United States found that dubious claims about sugar, salt and fat were common.”
