Sauder Schelkopf is investigating potential lawsuits against the Michigan Catholic dioceses and the priests who committed alleged sexual abuse of children while serving in the dioceses.  In August 2018, the Michigan Department of Attorney General announced an investigation into alleged sexual abuse of children and others by Catholic priests from 1950 to the present for all seven Catholic dioceses in Michigan.

As reported by the MLive following a:

“two-year investigation into sexual abuse in Michigan’s Catholic churches has, so far, identified 454 accused priests and 811 victims, and led to charges against 11 clergymen. . . . Authorities executed search warrants in October 2018 on all seven of Michigan’s Catholic dioceses. Two-hundred and twenty boxes of paper documents and more than 3.5 million digital documents were seized for review by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office’s Clergy Abuse Investigative Team.”

These are only allegations and have not at this time been proven in court.
