As reported on October 22, 2020, by Michigan Live, mediation began in the John Doe and Richard Roe v. University of Michigan class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that Dr. Robert E. Anderson, a former University athletic team physician and director of its health services, sexually abused students and other patients from 1968 to 2003. Reportedly, under the guise of medical treatment, Anderson engaged in a variety of sexual abuse, including groping, fondling, digital anal penetration, harassing sexualized comments, and forcing patients to masturbate themselves and/or him – all for no medical reason whatsoever.  It is alleged that police reports reveal that the University was aware of Anderson’s abuse, but he continued to “treat” patients for decades, which continued to put students in harm’s way.
