Sauder Schelkopf is investigating a potential lawsuit against the American School for the Deaf, the main campus, now in West Hartford, and at the school’s Camp Isola Bella summer facility in Salisbury, Conn.  On Feb 21, 2020, the school issued a statement that reads in part: “In February 2019, the American School for the Deaf (ASD) was made aware of allegations made by school alumni of inappropriate physical conduct by former faculty and staff members at ASD and Camp Isola Bella. . . . [T]he investigation identified multiple instances of past sexual abuse, and physical abuse and/or corporal punishment from the 1950’s through the 1980’s.”
