Sauder Schelkopf is investigating a class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers who purchased model year 2018-2021 Honda Odyssey vehicles. It has been alleged that a manufacturing defect allows water to infiltrate the rear driver’s side body panel, where it comes into contact with the control unit for the rear power tailgate (a/k/a power liftgate). Once water infiltrates the control unit, it causes the power tailgate to malfunction. Consumers have reported that the malfunctions include the tailgate opening and closing without notice and while operating the vehicle, the tailgate failing to open, and the tailgate failing to close. Consumers are then forced to pay out of pocket for expensive repairs only to have the replacement control unit also prone to future failures caused by further water infiltration.
