BMW Antenna Water Infiltration – Class Action Investigation

Sauder Schelkopf is investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of owners and lessees of certain BMW vehicles (MY 2017 and newer) that are prone to water infiltration through the roof mounted shark fin antenna.

In these vehicles, the seams of the vehicle’s shark fin antenna infiltrate with water due to an alleged defective sealing as a result of manufacturing. The resulting water infiltration may result in a variety of issues, including water damage to the vehicle’s interior, failure of airbag sensor systems which renders airbags inoperable, inaccurate GPS navigation systems, and failure of the vehicle’s emergency signal system and other communications systems.

According to some owners, the failure of the antenna’s sealing due to water infiltration is not covered under warranty, leaving owners to pay out of pocket (often over $3,000) for repairs and replacements.
