May 9, 2024 – Sauder Schelkopf is pleased to announce that it has been named a finalist in 4 categories for ALM| Law.com and The National Law Journal’s 2024 Elite Trial Lawyers Awards. The firm is named a finalist in Civil Rights, Consumer Protection, Diversity Initiative and Products Liability.
The National Law Journal “recognize law firms’ outstanding plaintiffs work in a high-stakes bench or jury trial or in a major settlement. The winners must have scored a significant win during the contest period and must also be able to show an impressive track record of wins over the last three to five years. Firms must have devoted at least 50% of their litigation resources to plaintiffs work and shown innovative approaches to case resolution.”
The recognition by ALM|Law.com and The National Law Journal follows Sauder Schelkopf’s recent historic achievements including:
- A $934 million settlement on behalf of approximately 2.1 million Hyundai and Kia vehicles that allegedly contain a defect that can cause premature engine failure and engine compartment fires.
- A landmark class wide injunctive relief settlement that was reached following decades-long sexual abuse of student patients by Dr. Robert E. Anderson while he was employed as a physician at the University of Michigan. The settlement requires the University of Michigan to implement institutional reforms to help ensure such abuse will not happen again.
- A nationwide class action settlement that provides 100% relief to a class of approximately 230,000 individuals with free safety inspections of their Generac generators as well as reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenses incurred under the previous inspection program.
- Sauder Schelkopf’s nationally recognized Law and College Fellowship Program that provide’s law and college students with the opportunity to gain significant exposure to the legal practice. The firm routinely receives hundreds of resumes a year from across the country for its fellowship positions. Through the firm’s efforts, 75% of our college fellows came from underrepresented groups; of those 89% are women and 62% are women of color.
