July 12, 2024 – Sauder Schelkopf is proud to be recognized as the Products Liability Practice Group of the Year and winner of the Diversity Initiative Award by The National Law Journal’s Elite Trial Lawyers. Sauder Schelkopf was selected for these top honors from among some of the country’s largest and most successful plaintiffs’ law firms.

ALM stated that “[t]he lawyers and law firms selected this year for these categories have demonstrated repeated success in cutting-edge work on behalf of plaintiffs over the last 18 months, along with a longer track record of client wins.”

Sauder Schelkopf was recognized as the Products Liability Practice Group of the Year for its innovative work on behalf of plaintiffs and long track record of success. Recently, the firm achieved final approval of numerous class action settlements in a variety of practice areas. In In re: Hyundai and Kia Engine Litig. II, the firm achieved a class settlement on behalf of approximately 2.1 million vehicle owners related to engine failures, and an expert valued the settlement benefits at approximately $934 million. In McMahon v. Generac Power Systems, Judge Gerald Pappert granted final approval to a class action settlement that provided 100% relief to a class of approximately 230,000 individuals who received a notification that their home standby generators may suffer from a dangerous safety defect.

Sauder Schelkopf’s was recognized as the winner of the Diversity Initiative Award for its nationally recognized Law and College Fellowships which provides law and college students with the opportunity to gain significant exposure to the legal practice. These paid remote fellowships serve students, who are seeking a career in the law or public service, with significant litigation experience in complex, high impact national litigation.  We have also partnered with several nationally recognized public interest legal non-profit organizations to provide our fellows with an opportunity to work with some of the county’s best non-profit organizations.  The Sauder Schelkopf Law and College Fellowships are another significant way that the firm further supports its strong commitment to public interest law

Presented by The National Law Journal, the 2024 Elite Trial Lawyers awards program celebrates outstanding contributions to plaintiffs-side legal work recognizing professional excellence in 26 award categories. The National Law Journal received hundreds of entries from plaintiffs law firms across the United States. The lawyers and law firms selected this year have demonstrated repeated success in cutting-edge work on behalf of plaintiffs.

Honorees were announced at an awards dinner held at the Lotte New York Palace in New York City on July 11, 2024.
