Berwyn, PA (June 3, 2025) – Sauder Schelkopf’s partner Joseph Sauder has been appointed Interim Co-Lead Counsel in a consolidated class action stemming from widespread technical failures during the February 2025 California Bar Examination. The lawsuits target ProctorU, Inc., doing business as Meazure Learning, for critical malfunctions in its online proctoring software that disrupted thousands of bar examinees during the high-stakes exam.
Mr. Sauder is a nationally recognized trial lawyer representing individuals, abuse survivors, consumers, and employees in complex litigation. A former Philadelphia prosecutor, he currently serves as court-appointed lead counsel in significant cases across the country. He has been named to the Top 100 Super Lawyers in both Pennsylvania and Philadelphia, and recognized by The National Law Journal, Lawdragon, and The American Lawyer as a trailblazer and leader in plaintiff-side litigation.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, under the Honorable Jon S. Tigar, issued an order consolidating the related actions and appointing Mr. Sauder and Annick M. Persinger of Tycko & Zavareei LLP as Interim Co-Lead Counsel. The Court cited the firms’ demonstrated experience, resources, and dedication to advocating for the proposed class—individuals who experienced software crashes, disconnections, and other significant issues during the exam.
“This appointment underscores our firm’s ongoing commitment to consumer protection and to holding companies accountable when critical failures disrupt lives and futures,” said Joseph Sauder. “We look forward to advancing the litigation and seeking relief for those harmed by these failures.”
